A fact I’m not proud of: I have no idea what my bra size is. Sure, I could work off the guidance the lingerie in my dresser suggests, but I’d be guessing anywhere in the range of 32A to 34C. Yikes. Personally, I’ve been walking around in my day-to-day simply believing that bras are one of the inevitable discomforts that I, as a woman, am destined to face. Alongside my monthly period that I simply can’t find it within me to be grateful for (sorry, but the cramps and mood swings make me a monster), bras have a way of making me feel that I’m simply not doing my femininity “right.” And while comparing breast size examples may provide others with answers, I become all the more confused. I’m sure I don’t have to tell you, but finding the right bra? It’s a whirlwind, y’all.

Breast Size Examples: An Expert on How to Find the Perfect Bra

So, as with everything I’m unsure of or self-conscious about, I went to an expert for answers. Cami Raymond, Senior Design Director for the women’s intimate brand, Ruby Ribbon, equipped me with jaw-dropping insights that completely shifted how I think about bra sizing.

First off? This should have been more obvious to me, but readers: our breasts change over time—not just through puberty. Our weight fluctuates or we may become pregnant—there are plenty of factors at play! As a result, according to Raymond, we should be doing regular bra fittings every 6-12 months. And guess what? You’re probably holding onto a few bras that should have been thrown out a long time ago.

It’s time to clear things up—for you and for me. Below, Raymond answers all of my questions from how often we should switch out our bras to the perfect styles for tricky situations. (That backless dress you’re planning on wearing to your cousin’s wedding? Don’t worry she has the answers.)

Cami Raymond

Cami Raymond is the Senior Design Director at Ruby Ribbon, a women’s intimates, shapewear, and athleisure company. For over 10 years, she’s been helping the company create products that empower women every day. She currently lives in San Francisco with her family, and when she’s not developing products for Ruby Ribbon, she’s pursing her other passion of horseback riding and show jumping.

So few women actually know their bra size. Where would you recommend they start?

You can certainly start by measuring yourself, but I recommend going to a proper or expert bra fitter to get a more accurate measurement. Also, think about what type of fabric you like, the cups you prefer (demi or full coverage), or if you want it to be convertible as you want something like a bra that you’ll potentially be wearing all day to be as comfortable as possible.

How often should we be sized for bras? Or is it a one-and-done scenario?

Getting sized and fitted should happen every six months to a year. Breast size and shape fluctuate continuously throughout our life. Even our bodies change for many reasons such as pregnancy or weight change. Plus, after a lot of wear your bras also lose their shape, so it’s always best to check on your correct size.

How many bras should we ideally have in our closet?

Ideally, you should have seven. Four for everyday and three for specialty use like working out, date nights, or ones for specific tops and dresses. Ultimately, you want bras that fit your lifestyle, but that still provide the support and lift you need.

When is it time to throw away a bra?

In general, bras last anywhere from 6-9 months. If you’re seeing the fabric get too stretched out, the straps get loose, or the cups lose their shape, those are signs that it’s time to throw the bra out.

Finding the right bra for different events can be tricky, particularly in summer. What are your favorite styles for those tougher outfits?

During the hot months of summer, we recommend Ruby Ribbon’s Original Cami. It has a built-in shelf bra, no underwire, and is made with antimicrobial and moisture-wicking materials. It’s great for under t-shirts that are clinging to you or wear it alone as a tank top. Either way, it smooths and supports you all day.

If you’re dealing with tricky tops or dresses, our Convertible Cami has adjustable straps so it can be made strapless if needed and act as shapewear. If you have any outfits that have a V-neck or a racer-back, our Lace Cami is a great option and also tones the stomach and back areas.

Lastly, if you’re wearing something backless but still need coverage our Posies are reusable adhesive nipple covers for smooth, seamless coverage. They also are made of premium matte silicone that has a smooth & buttery second skin-like finish that does not reflect light through clothes.

I’ve been noticing a lot of comfort-focused designs—wire-free bras that are designed to support without any discomfort. On the other hand, both bras with fun and bright colors and neutral colors will be strong this year so customers can have more to choose from. Fabrics with a sheer mesh texture and lace detailing are also gaining a lot of popularity.

How do you dress for a brunch?

If you’re not sure where to start, we’re showcasing some of our go-to looks plus a few tried and trues to get you through patio season, aka, the most delightful season of them all.

From bellinis at brunch to highballs at happy hour, here are 12 brunch outfit ideas to copy.

A Breezy Blue Dress

In my opinion, you will hardly find anything better than a one-decision outfit. Dresses and jumpsuits simply free up brain space when you’re making a million decisions a day. And that is exactly how I justify the number of dresses currently hanging in my closet. Camille’s dusty blue dress is a favorite around here because it looks like a top and a skirt but in reality, it’s the easiest dress you’ll ever wear.

Matching Gingham Set + Cowboy Boots

While I’m not normally one to gravitate toward orange tones, the new season has me feeling inspired and ready to step out in something new. I found this Wayf set and the shape was just right for my curvy body—I knew it had to be mine. And these old boots? I’ve had this exact pair for 13 years and I have a feeling they’ll be seeing a lot of wear this year.

Linen Top + Wide-Brimmed Hat

Brandy nails the tonal dressing. When in doubt, go monochrome and you will always, always look chic. The hat and flowers don’t hurt, either.

brunch outfit ideas: woman in white eyelet dress by everlane

shop the look: eyelet smock dress | black clogs

Eyelet Dress + Chunky Clogs

Isabelle is proof that pairing unexpected styles keeps things interesting and fun. She paired this perfectly feminine eyelet dress (currently on major sale) with a funky, heavy shoe. It’s like the transition of winter to spring IRL.

brunch outfit ideas: woman wearing white shorts with matching Zara blazer and Reformation sandals

shop the look: shorts (similar) | blazer (similar) | crop top (similar) | strappy mule heels

Short + Blazer Combo with Strappy Sandals

There’s something about brunch that makes neutrals a must. Maybe it’s the pairing with colorful, seasonal food. Or maybe it’s just the fact that a tonal neutral is chic 100% of the time. Michelle’s playful suit with the strappy heels is the perfect combo for a celebratory brunch (and most definitely vacay-approved).

woman wearing grey midi t-shirt dress with baseball cap and sneakers

Casual Midi Dress With Baseball Cap

My favorite type of brunch is indeed a laid-back affair. It’s those sunny mornings when you roll out of bed and throw on a look that you know is going to stick with you all day long. Camille’s t-shirt dress is the most perfect example. Throw on sneakers and a cap and embrace your Sporty Spice era.

Tonal Outfit With White Sneakers and a Colorful Bag

Confession: I saw this whole look on Target (!!) and could not be more obsessed. This is a shirt and pants combo but that shirt could easily double as a denim jacket. The all-blue with a lime green pop?! I will be copying it immediately.

spring brunch outfit idea denim jumpsuit pink mules

shop the look: denim jumpsuit | pink mules | link chain necklace

Dress Up a Jumpsuit With Pink Mules

Listen, a denim jumpsuit is a staple no matter what season you’re in. This one is a bit oversized and so easy to dress up or down. Go full-on spring fling with these fun pink mules and pair it with a classic chain necklace for an easy brunch outfit.

spring brunch outfit idea denim dress cowboy boots

shop the look: denim dress | mid boots

Coastal Cowgirl Denim Dress and Mid-Boots

Everyone is talking about the coastal cowgirl trend and I’m thoroughly convinced that she’s this year’s coastal grandma with a southwestern edge. Boots are a wardrobe must this season (have I convinced you yet?). And again, we’re looking to denim, this time in dress form, for a look that’s classically pulled together. Start with brunch, finish with two-step—not a bad way to spend a Saturday.

casual spring brunch outfit idea denim shorts striped shirt

shop the look: baggy jean shorts | relaxed polo shirt

Casual Baggy Jean Shorts + Polo

This might just be my new weekend uniform. Denim jeans that you can actually move in, plus a nautical polo that’s just begging for a swinging ponytail to bring it all together. Or maybe I’ll swap the polo for a romantic blouse. Either way, pair it with a favorite tote bag for a quick market stop after the mimosas wear off.

shop the look: high-rise jeans | crewneck tee | drop earrings

Classic High-Waist Jeans and a Tee

Here we arrive at the most versatile pieces that you’ll wear again and again (and through every season): a classic white t-shirt that’s easy to layer, the famed Levi’s jeans that make your butt look like a peach, and a pair of Bottega drop earring dupes that, guaranteed, you’re about to see everywhere—if you aren’t already.

woman wearing pink sezane jumpsuit

shop the look: jumpsuit

A Statement-Making Jumpsuit

And finally, every brunch needs a girl in a coral jumpsuit. That girl can be you. Bring some color to the table and the fun along with it. You can’t help but feel happy in something as colorful and well-tailored as this beauty.

I Packed a Carry-On for 2 Weeks in Europe—Here’s Exactly How I Did It https://camillestyles.com/beauty/2-week-carry-on-packing-list/ Tue, 04 Apr 2023 16:38:57 +0000 https://camillestyles.com/?p=227770

Plus the Parisian fashion trend I didn't expect.

The post I Packed a Carry-On for 2 Weeks in Europe—Here’s Exactly How I Did It appeared first on Camille Styles.

]]>

As an American, traveling to Europe is nothing short of a revelation. While we may marvel at New England buildings and landmarks that date back to the early 1600s, European architecture and history transports us to what feels like another world—and in many respects, it is. One of the ways I anticipated that difference as I planned my 2 week carry on packing list for my trip to Paris and London last month? The fashion.

Having lived in Paris for a year prior, I anticipated many of the sartorial choices that would peg me as an American immediately. Whereas in Chicago I can comfortably—some may even say, stylishly—sport my sweatsuit to my neighborhood coffee shop, loungewear in Europe is reserved for the home.

But having recently entered my *maximalist* era, where color and pattern reign supreme, I was a bit out of practice when it came to dressing as the Europeans do. Thankfully, with time to strategize, I knew exactly what to take and what to leave behind for my two-week trip in a single carry-on.

european trip packing list

Light layers, monochromatic color palettes—and most importantly: prioritizing comfort. Because when you’re in Europe, you’re going to walk. A lot.

Every product is curated with care by our editors and we’ll always give an honest opinion, whether gifted or purchased ourselves. If you buy something through our links, we may earn a small commission at no cost to you.

The Strategy

It had been seven years since I lived in Europe, so there was a lot riding on this return trip. Would I connect with the cities’ busy, winding streets as I once had? Would I be able to navigate the metro system with familiar ease? Had too much time passed for me to expect to feel any of this at all? Of course, with so much anticipation, I wanted what I packed to be a source of comfort, inspiration, and fun.

Because here’s the truth about getting dressed in Europe. While neutrals and darker colors may be the go-to choice, style is also a source of personal expression. There is a uniform, sure—a sea of navy, black, and white—but within this template can be found idiosyncrasies particular to the wearer themselves. An embellished pin on a lapel, a bright scarf tied around a bag, or a pair of glasses that make contacts irrelevant.

When it comes down to it, if you own who you are and your style reflects that, you’ll fit right in. Why sweatpants don’t work in Europe? Because there isn’t intention behind the choice.

Packing Parameters

In addition to exploring my own style and tailoring it to a European landscape, I had a few parameters that dictated my packing:

 • I would be traveling between London and Paris for almost two weeks: March 13-26.
 • There was rain in the forecast and temperatures were predicted to fall in the high 40s/low 50s.
 • The majority of my trip would be spent visiting museums, shopping, eating out, and of course, walking a ton.

With these constraints in mind, these were my top three priorities when planning my 2 week carry on packing list:

 • Prioritize light layers that pack well. I opted for many silk tank tops, skirts, and dresses that could be layered underneath sweaters in the daytime and worn with a wrap at dinner.
 • Pack shoes that could be worn in multiple contexts. I brought a pair of Chelsea-style boots, sneakers, and comfy clogs that were all easy to walk in.
 • Minimize bulky items. I packed a light puffer that could be squashed down in my suitcase, two sweaters, and a cashmere wrap that doubled as a scarf.

The Suitcase that Changed My Life

I’m someone who prefers to travel light. Not only do I not have to worry about additional luggage charges, but it makes going from plane to train to in-city transit easier. And while the suitcase has been lauded from just about every corner of the internet, I’m here to confirm: my Away suitcase has changed the way I travel. I purchased mine two years ago and it’s been everywhere with me.

What’s great:

 • One side features an interior compression system. This is typically where I pack my bulkier items—jackets, shoes, etc. You can clip it down and tighten the straps to fit way more than you thought possible.
 • For longer trips, I always fill mine to the brim. But no matter how much I pack, the suitcase always feels lightweight due to its even distribution of weight.
 • When you’re running through the airport to catch a connecting flight, you’ll love the 360° wheels that never (ever!) get jammed. Trust me: when I had 10 minutes to make it across the Reykjavík airport, this was clutch.

What’s not:

 • While the suitcase can fit in the overhead bin of most airlines, you may have to check it on smaller or full flights.

Away The Bigger Carry-On

u003cpu003eEvery traveler could benefit from an Away suitcase. The Bigger Carry-On is perfect for trips lasting a few days to two weeks. It’s stylish, sleek, and makes for efficient packing. Travel tip: Because these suitcases are becoming more and more popular, tie a bright scarf around your handle so you can easily identify it.u003c/pu003e

My 2 Week Carry On Packing List

My 2 Week Carry-On Packing List

Without further ado, I’m sharing the 11 essentials that made packing a carry-on for two weeks in Europe easy and streamlined. Trust me, this is all you need for the ultimate European spring vacay.

A Roomy Tote (Maximize Your Personal Item!)

Let’s kick things off with a bang. No matter how much you prepare in advance, the unexpected can always occur. For me, that came in the form of boarding a super-packed flight from Chicago to London and having to check my bag. And then… proceeding to have that bag lost for three days. Thankfully, I could steal from my stylish best friend’s closet. But this is your sign to maximize your personal item. I’ve carried a trusty Everlane canvas tote for years that can fit my laptop, a book, toiletries, and an additional outfit/pajamas so that I can feel a little prepped should the worst occur.

Travel tip: Though I say maximize, you want to be sure you won’t end up hurting yourself lugging your bag around on one shoulder. Keep your extra outfit lightweight and pack only the necessary toiletries: a toothbrush, hairbrush, cleanser, moisturizer, and SPF. If you want to add a little makeup to the mix, keep it streamlined with this glowy set and mascara.

Madewell The Zip-Top Transport Tote

u003cpu003eThe largest size of Madewell’s Transport Tote collection, this bag can haul your laptop, book, wallet, a pouch—plus, it has an interior pocket to keep your keys, phone, and passport safe.u003c/pu003e

The Zip-Top Transport Tote, $198

light puffer, 2 week carry on packing list

A Light Puffer

On multiple occasions as I was packing, I asked myself: why didn’t I book my trip for late spring/early summer? That way, I could avoid the need to pack heavier layers like a coat. Well, with these tickets booked for months, there was no turning back—and I knew I needed something to keep me warm on London and Paris’ inevitable windy and blustery days. Enter: a lightweight puffer that packs down to a fraction of its size. It kept me cozy without feeling like I was prepping for the tundra.

Travel tip: Whether I’m in Europe or the States, I always opt for black or navy outerwear. That way, no matter the outfit, my topper will always pair perfectly.

alo Gold Rush Puffer

u003cpu003eMy exact puffer is no longer available on Banana Republic (though you can snag it u003ca href=u0022https://poshmark.com/listing/Womens-Banana-Republic-Funnel-Neck-Puffer-Coat-Black-NWT-Sz-S-622793df7f80d2c062d57711u0022 target=u0022_blanku0022 rel=u0022noreferrer noopeneru0022u003eon Poshmarku003c/au003e!). But who doesn’t love a dupe—especially when it features zippered pockets (key in Europe), a cinched waist to make layering easy, and u003c/pu003e

Gold Rush Puffer, $198

A Versatile Silk Skirt

Washable silk is having a moment and I couldn’t be happier. Not only do silk pieces look and feel totally luxe, but they take up minimal space in your suitcase. Trust me, it’s my go-to fabric for transitional wear as it takes you seamlessly from winter to spring. This was the skirt that I packed in my personal item, and I couldn’t have been more grateful for the forethought.

Travel tip: Pair with a silk cami, a simple white tea, or an oversized button-down. Outfit, made.

Quince Washable Silk Skirt

u003cpu003eWhile some silk skirts can set you back hundreds, Quince’s take is affordable and just as stylish. Throw it in the wash with your delicates and hang it to dry. Easy-peasy.u003c/pu003e

Washable Silk Skirt, $59.90

Abercrombie Satin Mini Skort

u003cpu003eI also brought along this mini skort that was perfect for nights out. And while I wore it with tights due to the temps, I can’t wait to confidently embrace the cozy skort in all its glory come summer.u003c/pu003e

Satin Mini Skort, $45 (reg. $60)

A Comfy, Flattering Pant

A disclaimer: I am not a hard-pants girl. You can catch me wearing jeans maybe 10 days out of the year, and even then, they’re oversized mom jeans. Point is, when it comes to pants, comfort is key—but that doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice style or fit. I scored these pants (with an elastic waist!) for $70 five years ago from a vintage store in Portland. And if we’ve hung out at least twice, it’s likely you’ve seen me wearing them. No matter what cut is in style, I find that a cropped, wide-leg pant is universally flattering.

Travel tip: Because I’m petite, I like to pair these pants with a small heel so they don’t overwhelm my frame. Whether you go for clogs, sandals, or boots, adding height is key.

Everlane The Organic Wide-Leg Pant

u003cpu003eWhen I’m not buying vintage, Everlane is my go-to for pants. The shape gives you a booty (the copy describes the cut as u0022butt-boostingu0022), slims you through the waist, and… they’re beyond comfortable.u003c/pu003e

The Organic Wide-Leg Pant, $74 (reg. $98)

Reusable Bags (That Even Parisians Like)

No matter what shifting trends convince us to wear, BAGGU bags will forever stay in style. At home, I love using these to carry my groceries and I always keep at least one in my purse in case something cute catches my eye. While I was traveling, I stored one of these bags in my fanny pack to carry purchases and any layers I needed to take off. And I kid you not, my bag received no less than ten compliments from Parisians. That’s when it clicked for me: even if the French often gravitate toward darker colors in the city, the love and passion for color is undeniably present. For proof, take a look at Merci’s, the famed department store, visiting exhibit.

Travel tip: If you’re checking a bag, store one or two of these in your carry-on or personal item. That way, if your bag is over the weight limit, you have extra room to pull a few things out.

BAGGU Standard Baggu

u003cpu003eAs lightweight as these are, you wouldn’t expect them to be so durable. But I’ve stuffed mine to the brim on many an occasion and they’ve lived to tell the tale. While my fruit version is no longer in stock, this lemon print is definitely on my wish list.u003c/pu003e

Standard Baggu Lemon Tree, $14

cashmere wrap, 2 week carry on packing list

A Does-It-All Cashmere Wrap

As a Christmas present a few years back, my mom gifted me this cashmere wrap that I’ve hardly taken off since. While it’s less of a style in America, many European women drape their scarves and shawls around their bodies for an added layer. On many an occasion, my Parisian travel companion and I had to run to make our dinner reservations. Without time to change, I simply pulled off my jacket and wrapped myself in cashmere. Easy and oh-so-elegant.

Travel tip: Use your wrap as a blanket to keep you warm on the plane.

Garnet Hill Cashmere Wrap

u003cpu003eWhile the price is steep, I’ve had my wrap for years. It’s perfect for truly any occasion—even if you need an extra layer while you’re working from home.u003c/pu003e

Cashmere Wrap, $198

Day-to-Night Dresses, 2 week carry on packing list

Day-to-Night Dresses

I wear dresses year-round. In the winter, you can catch me with a made-for-spring frock layered over tights and beneath my coziest sweaters. The look feels feminine and stylish, while also being undeniably comfortable. It’s just one of the many ways I like to romanticize my work-from-home life. Similar to my silk skirts, these dresses packed down to nothing (so I didn’t have to make the hard decision as to which of my faves would get left behind). Of course, when you plan ahead with layers, you can take this look from day to night with seamless ease.

Travel tip: Pair with tights, a sweater, and dress-down boots for the perfect daytime ‘fit.

Banana Republic Valley Midi Slip Dress

u003cpu003eWorn in the picture above, this is my new favorite dress. The cowl-neck cut highlights your shoulders and I Iove the subtly sexy slit. I have plans to wear this for every wedding I’m attending this summer. It’s truly the dress that does it all. u003c/pu003e

Valley Midi Slip Dress, $54.97 (reg. $110)

Third Form Crush Bias Cowl Mini Slip

u003cpu003eI have this dress in Aegean and am u003cemu003eobsessedu003c/emu003e. Sadly, that colorway is no longer in stock but there are still plenty of warm-weather hues to choose from. The bias neckline is universally flattering and I love the sheen the crushed finish gives off.u003c/pu003e

Crush Bias Cowl Mini Slip, $220

Everlane The Satin Square-Neck Slip Dress

u003cpu003ePictured below, my pink Everlane satin dress is thrifted and sadly no longer available. But I love the ease of this pick, with its minimalist elegance and A-line shape. It’s truly a one-and-done piece.u003c/pu003e

The Satin Square-Neck Slip Dress, $128

A Structured Blazer

A well-fitting blazer is as timeless as it gets. When you want something a little more elegant than a loose-fitting sweater, a black blazer is a simple layer that’s both functional and stylish. The goal here is to go slightly oversized. That way, should you need to add a layer beneath, you’re all set.

Travel tip: This will easily become one of the key pieces in your wardrobe, so you want something that’s soft but structured. And though the price tag may be on the steeper side, if we’re talking cost-per-wear, it’s absolutely worth it.

Madewell The Relaxed Blazer in Softdrape

The Relaxed Blazer in Softdrape, $185

Silk Tanks

Let me count the ways I love this cami. Well, for insight, the skirt pictured above was my friend’s and this is me rounding out day two of this trip’s suitcase-less beginning. But with my black cami at the ready, I could pair it with just about anything in her closet. Whether it’s pants or a skirt, silk tanks and camis are a universally elegant choice.

Travel tip: As with everything on this list, we’re going for comfort. Your cami should rival your softest, most well-loved tee. If it’s at all less cozy, it doesn’t belong in your suitcase. (Or closet, for that matter.)

A New Day™ Cami

u003cpu003eEven though it’s Target, I’m going on three years with this cami and it’s still holding up. My partner makes fun of me for wearing it multiple times throughout the week (u0022Isabelle, did you wash that?u0022 Yes… ), but when you find something this versatile, you make the most of it. Perhaps it’s time I buy a few more.u003c/pu003e

Cami, $18

Comfortable and Cute Shoes

By far, my shoes were what took up the most space in my suitcase. But as someone who likes to have options, I prioritized giving them as much real estate as possible. Because I’ve experienced beyond-painful blisters in the past, I wanted my footwear to seamlessly blend style and function. In addition to nondescript sneakers (black, of course), I also went for elevated clogs that gave me some height and my well-loved boots (that are far more comfortable than they may look). With these options, I could go everywhere from museums to shopping to a six-course meal. Consider your bases covered.

Travel tip: The boots were more of a seasonal pick, so keep them if you’re traveling in the winter or early spring. If not, swap them out for chic slides (I love these).

Jeffrey Campbell Clogge Clogs

u003cpu003eThe clogs to end all clogs. Made of rubber, these do the oversized shoe trend perfectly while also being a comfy choice (I walked u003cemu003emilesu003c/emu003e in these). Plus, they come in 8 colors—I’m after the pink next.u003c/pu003e

Clogge Clogs, $60

Barbour® Maisie Boots

u003cpu003eWe all need a durable boot that can be worn with just about anything. Lined in leather and featuring a chunky block heel, these boots are designed to take you anywhere in style and comfort.u003c/pu003e

Maisie Boots, $149 (reg. $200)

A Hands-Free Bag

I initially purchased this bag in the summer of 2020, when I only had walks and hikes to entertain me. It was perfect for carrying my wallet, phone, a pair of sunglasses, and another Standard Baggu just in case. Since then, it’s become my everyday bag thanks to the ease of wear and the simple fact that I hate having anything in my hands when I’m out and about (save for a Berthillon ice cream cone, of course). Bonus: While you’ll have to turn your backpack around and wear it on the front of your body if you bring it into a museum, this bag already has you covered.

Travel tip: I learned the hard way that whatever you do, in London DO NOT refer to this as a fanny pack. “Bag” or “satchel” works perfectly fine. For insights, read Merriam-Webster’s take.

BAGGU Fanny Pack

u003cpu003eFurther proof that BAGGU designs timeless, universal pieces that fit every function. To date, I’ve convinced multiple friends to pick up their own pack. It’s easy to clean, and with an adjustable strap, this bag works with whatever you wear.u003c/pu003e

I'm tired but I'm cool.

The post School Drop-off Is My Runway: Here Are 10 Outfit Essentials I Can’t Live Without appeared first on Camille Styles.

Of all the efforts I make to romanticize my life, the school drop-off line may be the most unexpected. Mornings are a rush of finding shoes and slapping together sunflower butter and jelly sandwiches (solidarity to my fellow nut-free school parents)—and this is the time I choose to tap into my main character energy? You’re dang straight. As my friend Krista says, I’m doing “the most with the least.” And thanks to my trusted rotation of essentials, a stylish enough school drop-off outfit is less than five minutes away.

Featured image from our interview with Marie Kouadio Amouzame by Belathée Photography.

Witness: the Mom in the wild. Complete with day-old hair, no makeup, pants she maaaay have also slept in last night, and yet—she’s a whole vibe.

Why should I care?

Here’s what caring about a school drop-off outfit (or a pick-up one) isn’t: it is not about trying to portray a false Instagram-level-perfect parent. But it’s also not about buying into this idea that (despite the photo above) moms just live in high buns and snot-covered t-shirts. Even in those early baby years, I couldn’t subscribe to this idea that I’d walked through some invisible threshold where I was no longer allowed to express myself through fashion or experiment with new looks. There is certainly grace for that time and it’s true, showers were a bit fewer and farther between. But I learned that if I don’t prioritize myself, no one else will do that for me.

And in my current stage of life, adding a gold hoop before I run out the door with the kids just makes me feel more like me. Never discount the small stuff.

Make it yours.

Of course, the best parenting advice I’ve ever heard is the Amy Poehler classic, “Good for her! Not for me.” You might be motivated for different reasons. Perhaps you’re in need of an easy capsule wardrobe for the weekdays so you have one less decision to make. Maybe it’s a boost of confidence in the mornings to carry you through the day. Perhaps it’s a reminder that NO, you are not a slob. You are an incredibly capable and smart human who also happens to look super cute in a baseball cap.

And so without further ado, here are the 10 items you need to go from PJs to put together in minutes.

Every product is curated with care by our editors. If you buy something through our links, we may earn a small commission at no cost to you.

A Go-To Sweatsuit Set

I used to feel bad about spending a lot of money on something like… sweatpants. I used to feel bad about a lot of things. However, I’m a mom now and my DGAF meter is high—WHAT A GIFT. Still, when you consider the price per wear, the beloved sweatsuit that I’ve worn, snuggled, and likely cried into since 2020 comes in at about .000001 cent total. That’s what we moms call a bargain.

Motherly Advice: Pair your sweatsuit set with a long trench and a beanie on a cold day. Your outfit is instantly elevated and it’s practical, to boot.

The Coziest French Terry Crew Neck Sweatshirt

u003cpu003eEvery closet needs a soft heather grey crewneck sweatshirt (this one comes in a few more colors if you want duplicates). The French terry is like wearing a cozy blanket—a chic one that you can run errands in. Fits true to size but size up if you like it super oversized.u003c/pu003eu003cpu003eSizes XXS-2XLu003c/pu003e

alo Accodale Crew Neck Pullover, $118

Classic Unixsex-Style Sweatpants With Pockets

u003cpu003eThese are the classic sweatpants you’re looking for. A unisex style with an oversized silhouette, these babies come in seven colors and feature pockets that don’t bulge. These are true to size if you like ’em baggy, or size down for a relaxed fit.u003c/pu003eu003cpu003eSizes XXS-2XLu003c/pu003e

alo Accolade Sweatpant, $118

An Oversized Boyfriend Tee

The goal here is to find a tee so big and soft that you want to sleep in it. (And you just might.) You need a t-shirt you can throw on with the aforementioned sweatpants, jeans, or your preferred type of shorts. If you love the oversized look, you can always find something here. But if you’re looking for that super wearable basic tee, the All Yours Cotton T-Shirt is a solid option.

Motherly Advice: White t-shirts are essential to a mother’s wardrobe but they are also magnets for kid goo. Stock your purse with this and your laundry room with this.

Relaxed-Fit Tee (12 Colors)

u003cpu003eThis breathable t-shirt is made from famously soft Pima cotton fabric. It falls right at the hip for moderate coverage or an easy tuck. Don’t be surprised if it becomes your new everyday tee.u003c/pu003eu003cpu003eSizes 0-20u003c/pu003e

Lulu Lemon All Yours Cotton T-Shirt, $58

Everyday Bike Shorts

We are officially in our bike-short era. I’ll never forget the time a friend showed up to an event in bike shorts and a blazer in the name of fashion. She was on the cusp of a trend that most moms at the time would have snubbed. But just yesterday, I found myself in a text thread with a group of moms discussing the Costco sale on bike shorts. That’s when I knew—we’re either at the end of a trend (in which case, #cringebutfree) or perhaps bike shorts aren’t a trend at all. Like jeans and leggings before them, bike shorts might just be here to stay.

Motherly Advice: May as well grab the matching bra. Throw on an oversized jean jack and BOOM. An outfit.

Bike Shorts That Don’t Ride Up (6 Colors)

u003cpu003eThese beloved compression shorts have an 8.5u0022 seam and they are made for movement. No tugging or pulling required.u003c/pu003eu003cpu003eSizes XXS-6XLu003c/pu003e

Girlfriend Black High-Rise Bike Short, $48

An Easy-Wear Dress

It might seem like a stretch to go from sweats to a dress but in my mind, these two things are very nearly one and the same. The key is finding a dress that is SO easy to wear. Here are the requirements: you don’t need any special undergarments to wear with it (and maybe none at all), it’s wrinkle-free, and it’s likely patterned or a dark color to hide any coffee drips. The fabric should be comfortable and soft, and bonus points if there are no zippers or fasteners. I’m talking you pull this thing on like it’s a worn-out, well-loved t-shirt. The only difference is this is a fully realized outfit—truly the most for the least.

Motherly Advice: I still ride hard for the nap dress. I’ve had this one for nearly two years and it’s still in my regular rotation. And my Christy Dawn dress has been going strong for SIX years. Price per wear, y’all…

A Dress That Requires No Thinking (5 Colors)

u003cpu003eJust about any of Christy Dawn’s regenerative cotton dresses could become a mainstay in your closet. But the Brooklyn dress has that simple, classic feminity—enough to balance sneakers and wet hair.u003c/pu003eu003cpu003eSizes XS-XLu003c/pu003e

Christy Dawn The Brooklyn Dress, $298

A Pair of Chunky Sneakers

Call it a dad shoe, call it a TikTok trend—I call ’em comfortable sneakers that are versatile enough to bring some style to athleisure or dress down a dress. This is the pair I wear on the daily and they also happen to be the only shoes that’ll get me through a day at Disneyland comfortably. (Cool as they are, Air Force 1’s and Vans couldn’t hack it.) You really can’t go wrong with New Balance in general, but this is the classic style that stands the test of time—in both quality and fashion.

Motherly Advice: You also need socks. These are my go-to (a fabulous Amazon find if I do say so).

The Only Sneaker You’ll Ever Need (6 Colors)

u003cpu003eThis shoe was literally built to u0022do a lot of things well.u0022 Sound like someone you know? They’re versatile, just like you. Go from school drop-off to a walk around the block to work to the DMV like the icon you are—all the while rocking the most iconic shoe.u003c/pu003e

New Balance 574 Core, $84.99

A Cushy Pair of Slides or Sandals

Confession: I slide my feet into sneakers without unlacing them first (sneaker heads will cringe). It’s not great for the lasting quality of my shoes which is why I love an easy pair of slides. You literally put ’em on and go—and anything that prevents a mom from crouching down to get it done is music to her ears. These aren’t cheap but listen, that’s the point. The way we moms go hard in the warmer months means we need a sandal that can hold up. These do the trick.

Motherly Advice: ALWAYS keep well stocked on nail polish remover. Moms love to paint their toenails and then go literal years without removing that one final swoop of chipped polish. These sandals demand better.

Slide ‘n Go Sandals (4 Colors)

u003cpu003eTalk about a color (and material) that goes with everything. These leather slides feature a soft footbed and cushy criss-cross straps. At the cross section of comfort and style, they’re best-sellers for a reason.u003c/pu003e

Anine Bing Lizzie Slides in Cognac, $350

A Well-Shaped Baseball Cap

If there is anyone who understands the magic of a baseball cap, it is one Camille Styles. She rocks ’em on cozy days and chic days alike and it’s the perfect sporty-cool accessory. Similarly, I wear mine at least once a week—mostly on dirty or bad hair days. Sometimes I throw it on my head as I’m out the door only to find myself wearing it all day because, let’s face it, a well-shaped (and that is the key) baseball hat is a dang cute look.

Motherly Advice: I’ve ruined a baseball cap or two in the machine wash—don’t do that. I’ve heard you can wash ’em in the dishwasher but here’s how to do it according to Nike.

The Perfect Baseball Cap for Dirty Hair

u003cpu003eCamille did it. She designed an essential baseball cap to meet all your bad—or good!—hair day needs. It’s a great shape (won’t make your face or head look wonky) and the minimal CZ logo makes it easy to pair with any look.u003c/pu003e

Casa Zuma Baseball Cap, $40

sunglasses for school drop off outfits

A Pair of Sunglasses

On a normal day, sunglasses are practical. When you’re dropping off and picking up kids, sunglasses are essential. They block the sun! They hide tired eyes! They look chic! Is there anything sunglasses can’t do to elevate a look?

Motherly Advice: When it comes to sunnies, just do what the TikTok-ers say. We’re not wearing oversized frames with gold detail anymore. Square frames are currently in—don’t overthink it.

Chic Sunnies For Instant Style (3 Colors)

u003cpu003eGet you some polarized lenses in a cool shape. (Octogan is in!) Regular moms will call them practical. u003cemu003eCool momsu003c/emu003e will call them the most essential accessory.u003c/pu003e

Z Supply Off Duty Sunglasses, $89

Chunky Gold Hoops

I wear these magic gold hoops every day. They don’t agitate my ears and they’re unexpectedly light for their size and shape. This is is what you call a small item with a BIG impact. I put them on and witness an INSTANT glow up. If you listen to me just one time: buy these earrings.

Motherly Advice: Get a backup pair. I recently came home from a night of giving piggyback rides to a “pick me uuuup”-level child. In typical toddler mystery, only one earring survived.

Magic Gold Hoops (4 Sizes)

u003cpu003eIf you won’t listen to me, listen to 43,000 five-star reviews. These earrings are near perfection. I wear the 20 mm size which I’d classify as a small hoop. They catch the light just right and you’ll wonder how you ever lived without them.u003c/pu003e

PAVOI 14K Gold Plated Hoops (Amazon), $14

Double Duty Makeup: A Lip & Cheek Stain

My school drop-off outfits generally lack color, which is why I rely on a single product to punch it all up. I’ve been using Tata Harper’s “Naughty” for years and in my opinion. it’s the best in the game. All it takes is a little on your index finger to swipe on cheeks and then rub the remaining on your lips. DONE. It’s the cherry on top that brings the whole look together.

Motherly Advice: This is a strongly pigmented product which is great because a little goes a long way and not great because little hands will grab it and paint their school clothes while you’re brushing your teeth. YOU can learn this the easy way.

A Go-To Lip u0026 Cheek Stain (5 Colors)

u003cpu003eFor when you want to look flush but not FLUSHED, you know? This weightless cream blush practically melts into your skin as it blends just beautifully. There is no sticky feeling afterward and it won’t disappear by the end of the day.u003c/pu003e

Tata Harper Vitamin-Infused Blush, $45

3 Perfect Spring Travel Getaways—And Exactly What to Pack for Each https://camillestyles.com/beauty/fashion/spring-travel-outfits/ Tue, 21 Feb 2023 11:00:00 +0000 https://camillestyles.com/?p=220946

Get your hair wet.

The post 3 Perfect Spring Travel Getaways—And Exactly What to Pack for Each appeared first on Camille Styles.

]]>

Last summer I promised myself that every time we visited the neighborhood pool I’d get my hair wet. And not only that—I’d do it by way of “jumping” (stepping) offer the diving board. Imagine me, a 37-year-old woman with a goal in line next 12-year-olds doing back flips on repeat. Terrifying. But looking back, it was one of the most important things I did for myself that summer because it was about nothing else but pure, unadulterated joy. And with the promise of spring (and spring travel!) up ahead, I’m more than ready to play.

what to pack spring travel

The only thing that gets me more excited than the actual act of traveling is packing the perfect bag. Maybe you feel the same way—packing is a game to be won. The mission? Pack exactly what’s necessary, wear every single thing you pack, and leave a little room to bring back something new. I cannot tell you the JOY I feel from coming home with a suitcase full of worn clothes. It’s almost as good as jumping (stepping) off the diving board.

At the heart of every spring packing list is the swimsuit. Winter is OVER, people. It’s time to live a little and make it count. Essentially, it’s time to get your hair wet. Depending on your destination, your entire wardrobe can (and I’d argue, should) revolve around your swimsuit. From a jaunt to the desert where the most fabulous pools await, to a beach getaway where the sand beckons, to an escape to the lakehouse where you enter your “I’m on a boat” era—no matter where you choose to take a dip, here’s what to pack for your spring getaway.

How to Choose Spring Travel Outfits

crochet dress summersalt aesthetic flatlay
white bikini top and button down

So you’ve pulled out the suitcase—what now? The best way to pack for a spring trip is to pack by outfit. Simply grabbing, say, three bottoms and three tops won’t necessarily work here. But if you piece everything together so you know how the items will combine before you even take off, you’re setting yourself up for success.

Once you have your spring travel outfits, lay them all out so you can see your collection as a whole before it goes in the bag. Think about the activities, the weather, and any situation which might require a specific outfit. Do you need something to hike in? Something for a nice dinner? Lounge-wear 24/7? Is it going to be chilly at night? Check all your boxes before the clothes even go in the suitcase.

Poolside ‘Fits Featuring The Only Swimsuit You Need

summersalt sidestroke flatlay aesthetic

Most spring trips are going to involve some type of water, so let’s talk about that beach (or lake or pool) ‘fit. First up, the suit. Long touted as “the internet’s favorite swimsuit,” Summersalt’s designer-quality suits are our favorite options for swimwear. The quality is unmatched and each suit is created to move with you and your unique body. Truly—Summersalt literally referenced 1.5 million measurements from 10,000 real women to create the world’s most flattering swimwear. But while there is no “one suit fits all,” The Sidestroke in particular is some kind of magic. It’s functional, fashionable, and comes in various colors in sizes 0-24. And best of all, the price point makes it easy to order more than one when you just can’t decide. In fact, we’ve selected our favorite Summersalt picks for your spring vacay and you can use the code CAMILLE10 for $10 towards a purchase of $95 or more!

In addition to the swimsuit, you’re going to need a versatile cover-up, a pair of shoes, and accessories. Thanks to Summersalt, there’s an outfit for every type of waterside retreat. Let’s kick it off with the beach:

An Oversized White Button-Up Shirt

u003cpu003eIs a simple white button-up shirt the most perfect cover-up? We’d argue YES. The look is trés chic plus, it’s perfect for a trip because it’s a multi-functional piece that goes from the beach to the local farmers’ market to sunset dinner with ease.u003c/pu003e

21 Work-From-Home Wardrobe Essentials You’ll Wear on Repeat https://camillestyles.com/beauty/fashion/work-from-home-clothes/ Thu, 09 Feb 2023 11:00:00 +0000 https://camillestyles.com/?p=220142

Outfit of the (every) day.

The post 21 Work-From-Home Wardrobe Essentials You’ll Wear on Repeat appeared first on Camille Styles.

]]>

The year is 2020. You haven’t showered in ~three days. You’re wearing the same sweatpants you slept in. That top knot is still holding strong and the Amazon boxes full of cozy socks, craft kits, and elderberry gummies are collecting on your doorstep. You feed your sourdough starter, eat a slice of banana bread, and hop on Zoom for your morning meetings.

Perhaps that paragraph should have come with a trigger warning. But isn’t it great to know how far we’ve come?! We went HARD with the sweats and then swung the pendulum all the way over to donning black-tie gowns in grocery stores just to feel something. And here we are now in the year 2023, settling somewhere in the middle and dressing once again like fairly well-adjusted people. Well, we’re trying to, at least.

The way we work has changed for good, with many of us either working from home or hybrid between home and office. But no matter which way we get the job done, we all face the same question every morning. What do I wear?

I can help you with that. I’ve worked fully from home for 5+ years and last year I happily moved to the hybrid model. As a “professional” WFH-er I’ve collected a few rules and standards for work-from-home clothes. Let’s review.

work from home clothes with baby

The Rules of Work-From-Home Clothes

 1. No Hard Pants. There must be room for easy movement and therefore this COVID-era rule remains. Urban Dictionary defines hard pants to perfection: “Pants that don’t have a stretchy, elastic waistband. During any pandemic, the desire to wear only elastic waistband pants instead of pants like jeans. During the pandemic, Victoria refused to wear hard pants.
 2. Wear Easy Layers. The thermostat does not care that you set it to the same exact temperature every day. It will always be colder in one room and warmer in the next. Layers are key for comfort.
 3. Clothes Must Be Versatile. Your clothes need to take you seamlessly from Zooms to coffee dates to errands to lunches. From sitting to standing and sitting again. A solid collection of basics mixed with fun items makes for a closet full of options.
 4. Opt For Casual Yet Professional. This one should be pretty obvious—no need to wear a pair of heels down the hall to your home office—but we can also try a smidge harder than three-day-old pants.
 5. Clothes Should Make You Feel Like You. It’s at the bottom of this list but consider it rule number one.

Work-From-Home Clothes IRL

Personally, I have a few essentials that I’ll recommend, all of which check off all the rules. I still LOVE my nap dress, for example, and I’m newly jazzed about these straight-leg canvas pants. (Sorry I said “jazzed,” it just felt right.) But there is a particular pair of pants I see on just about every WFH outfit list that I had to go try for myself.

I went to the store to try them on and… yeah. They were not as dreamy (pun intended) on my particular body as I hoped they’d be. However, I did discover these incredibly comfortable and versatile trousers (above!) that I immediately loved. They only had petite in the store so I’m planning on ordering the 32″ inseams but I also don’t totally mind the shorter length (I’m 5’8″ for reference).

Work-From-Home and Office Capsule Collection

Behold the ultimate collection of work-from-home clothes for the modern gal. I gathered my personal favorites alongside some everyday essentials, then polled my very fashionable and amazing colleagues via Slack to share any pieces they swear by. I’d first encourage you to shop your own closet for items in these particular categories and then decide what’s missing. (P.S. Don’t sleep on a red power dress. In a sea of neutrals sometimes you need to opt for something fiery and strong!)

Whether we like it or not, the holidays are upon us, and you know what that means: a full calendar from now until New Year’s. Between the parties, planning, and all the presents to buy, our plates are full. I know that you most likely have a lot on your mind, so I wanted to apply some of my past experience as a stylist to help answer one of the holiday’s biggest questions: what the heck do I wear? Thankfully, with a solid capsule wardrobe filled with a few heavy-hitting winter basics, I’ve found a tried-and-true solution to this million-dollar ask.

Unlike everyday pieces, our wardrobe’s winter staples are those you continue to go back to on a seasonal basis. They are classics that never go out of style, ones that you can reinvent and re-style every year in a fresh way. So, today, I’ll tackle four of the most common holiday moments you’ll likely need an outfit for. Get my pointers below and browse my favorite sustainable options, extended sizing pieces, and cost-conscious fits. Let’s do it!

What to Wear: The Casual Family Gathering

The key to dressing for family hangs is to go for an elevated comfy look. You don’t want to look like you didn’t try, but you also want to be comfortable enough to roll up your sleeves in the kitchen, play on the floor with little ones, and have something flexible enough to win at a competitive game of charades.

Here are my go-to options. You can layer all of these with a slip dress or skirt or your favorite pair of jeans for an effortlessly cool look.

The chunky sweater

If you have a curvy body type, my recommendation would be to go with a cropped option to define your waistline or to pair it with a high-waisted pant while doing a casual front tuck. This lets you show off your shape even while adding a little volume from the chunky knit.

Christy Dawn The Ricky Sweater

Jenni Kayne Everyday Sweater

Banana Republic Calda Sweater Tunic

Janessa Leoné Margeaux Sweater

The cashmere sweater

When it comes to a cashmere sweater, you’re getting all the things: comfort, warmth, quality, and typically a higher price tag—so be warned! The plus side is that you can wear cashmere with only a bra (or nothing underneath) without the fear of the itch. Again, I’m giving you classic pieces that will never go out of style, so you can feel good about investing in your favorite.

White + Warren Cashmere Polo Sweater

What to Wear: Christmas Eve at Home

The cardigan

If you run hot and can’t commit to a sweater indoors, cardigans are a solid solution. Layer it with a silk tank top or over a—yep, you guessed it!—slip dress. You can also roll with it and commit with only a bra underneath. Either way, a cardigan is a win-win. Go with a longer cardigan if you want to keep it comfy, or try a cropped style to show off or create the look of curves.

Haven Well Within Cashmere Shaker Stitch Cardigan

NAADAM Luxe Cashmere Grandpa Cardigan

Reformation Val Regenerative Wool Cardigan

Mate the Label Organic Knit Cardigan

Silk skirt

If you’re not yet sold on the silk skirt, give the silk skirt a try. It’s an easy yet comfortable way to elevate your look at home without sacrificing comfort. It comes in a plethora of lengths, but my go-to is the mini. I like to pull out the mini for a night out and keep is classy with a slightly longer hemline from dinner with the family. It looks good with a chunky boot or delicate heel, too. You can keep a slip skirt in your rotation all year, but it’ll be a standout during the holidays.

What to Wear: Festive Holiday Parties

When it comes to holiday parties, there are a few materials and textures that will instantly put you in the mood to celebrate.

Velvet everything

Nothing says the holidays quite like velvet—it can instantly dress up any outfit. One of my favorite velvet pairings is with satin or silk. The juxtaposition of the two fabrics creates such a luxurious vibe. Accessories are always an easy way to add some velvet to your wardrobe, too. No matter how you incorporate it into your holiday dressing, you’re sure to look put together in velvet.

Reformation Wes Velvet Pant

Endless Rose Velvet Blazer

Free People Velvet Petite Bow

Metallic accessories

All that glitters isn’t just gold—it’s also silver, rose gold, and champagne. In a world of metallics, you will always shine. With metallics, I like to follow the rule that less is more. They can be intense in a good way, so I like to use them sparingly.

What to Wear: A Cozy Holiday Morning

For me, holiday mornings are all about keeping it comfortable. I’m talking soft pajamas, warm robes, and elevated loungewear. Whether you’re the matching pajama kind of family or you like to lean more luxe, you can always come back to these pieces. One thing is for sure: you’re bound to create special memories to look back on all while being extra cozy. This lets you focus on what matters most: the magic and joy of your family.

I’m going to go out on a limb here to say that, when it comes to the holidays, you’re often thinking about others—not yourself. There are the gifts to buy, the goodies to bake, and the lengths we go to make our homes a comforting, hygge-ified haven. Of course, these things mark many of the season’s joys, and there’s nothing better than reminding our favorite people that they are cherished and loved. But amidst all the cheer, it’s important to step back, be present, and offer yourself the gift of holiday self-care.

During a time of year that’s packed with so much, it can be difficult to carve out downtime for ourselves and those we love. But in an effort to weave intention into the holiday experience, we’re all about slowing down and finding calm amidst the (cheerful) chaos. Not sure how to make that happen? You’re in luck—we have the ideas, inspiration, and outfits you need to get comfy and indulge in a little holiday self care.

Camille self care_wellness trends 2023

Finding Your Holiday Self Care Style

We teamed up with our friends at Haven Well Within to help you slow down, savor the season, and connect with those all-important quality moments. And because creating space in your busy schedule can feel impossible, we had fun doing the hard work for you. We’re sharing ideas for a festive and cozy night in—perfect for however you picture the ideal evening spent at home.

Whether you’re a Gift Wrapping Goddess, a Holiday Movie Maven, or a Christmas Cookie Culinista, we have what you need to craft a cozy outfit, set a festive scene, and create the perfect night-in vibe. Scroll on to find out which holiday self care style fits you best—and how to embrace the space we love spending the holidays most: in our comfy, candle-lit homes.

Gift Wrapping Goddess

The Gift Wrapping Goddess is an aesthete through and through. You were Martha Stewart for Halloween, you bought all of your Christmas gifts before the summer was through, and you still subscribe to magazines for the best ideas to bring a little DIY spirit home.

You might be a Gift Wrapping Goddess if…

 • Pinterest is your social media platform of choice
 • You stash stationary and love sending handwritten cards
 • Your craft drawer is overflowing with DIY supplies

Sound like you? Keep reading for ideas to design your perfect holiday night in.

The outfit

You have 10+ packages to wrap up—i.e., you’re on a mission while still wanting to look cute. (After all, this is a prime-time opportunity for a little holiday content capture.) But if you’re boxing things up while sitting next to a roaring fire, layers are key. A cashmere henley keeps things soft and chic on top while silk sleep shorts keep you cool. To top it off, cashmere socks and a scrunchie worn on your wrist equal a two-for-one sartorial power play.

Cashmere Ribbed Henley

u003cpu003eThe ideal loungewear piece. Luxe, but relaxed, it has an easy-going vibe that’ll make it hard to take off.u003c/pu003e

Washable Silk Sleep Shorts

u003cpu003eIf you share my bad habit of wearing athletic shorts to bed, these are the luxe upgrade your sleep routine needs.u003c/pu003e

Cashmere Ribbed Socks

u003cpu003e100% cashmere. These socks are comfort, redefined. u003c/pu003e

Washable Silk Scrunchie

u003cpu003eYou’re too busy to think about the perfect gift-wrap-and-bow combo to worry about your hair. Enter: the scrunchie that solves all your beauty woes.u003c/pu003e

The soundtrack

The heyday of hipsters may have left the limelight last decade, but their music tastes still hold strong. This Hipster Holiday Mix is full of favorites from the 2010s—Band of Horses, Sufjan Stevens, and Andrew Bird—that show off their alternative takes on holiday classics. The vibes are quirky but chill, and as the tastemaker that you are, you’ll love it when friends applaud your holiday music picks.

The supplies

Is there anything better than snuggling up and wrapping gifts for loved ones? For wrapping paper, try infusing your gifts with a little color, while still keeping a classic vibe. This paper blends a winter wonderland motif with a rainbow of hues, and it pairs perfectly with this statement velvet ribbon.

Of course, you’ll also want a few stylish vessels for serving up snacks. The Casa Zuma Gathering Board is the perfect way to plate sweet and savory goodies. Or, if muddy buddies or a holiday popcorn mix is more your speed, these wooden salad bowls can be used for more than simply getting your greens.

The recipes

Speaking of snacks, you’ll want to be sure to have a few options for satisfying your sweet tooth and refueling after wrapping your mountain of gifts. No-Bake Pumpkin Pie Bars are the ideal in-between if you’re craving that classic pie flavor but don’t want to do the work of making a homemade crust. Or, serve this Smokey Eggplant Dip alongside chewy pita, naan, or crackers for dipping.

Holiday Movie Maven

While ice skating, holiday window shopping, and heading to the Christmas markets are all wonderful and festive ways to spend a winter weekend, sometimes, staying indoors with nothing but the best holiday movies in front of you is just what you need. If that sounds like holiday self care to you, look no further than this list of our favorites—both classics and recent releases. Gather up your gal pals, friend group, or family—or enjoy this perfect evening all to yourself.

You might be a Holiday Movie Maven if…

 • You always watch every Oscar nominee before the awards are handed out
 • You get into heated debates about which How the Grinch Stole Christmas was better
 • You can’t stop talking about Lindsay Lohan’s rom-com renaissance

Here’s how to make your dream holiday movie marathon happen.

haven-camille-styles-holiday-5461

The outfit

Whether you’re spending your movie marathon on the couch or in bed, this holiday self care night epitomizes coziness. With that being said, we love an athleisure moment and this matching set delivers. The tortoise shell hue is perfectly on point for the holidays and the cashmere cardigan is the ideal textured topper. All that’s left is to add an on-trend pair of slides that—and I don’t use this word lightly—literally feel like you’re walking on a cloud.

Cashmere Shaker Stitch Cardigan

u003cpu003eThoughtful design meets everyday ease. From loungewear to workwear, you’ll be wearing this seasonal favorite on repeat.u003c/pu003e

Varley Sports Bra

u003cpu003eA sports bra that you don’t want to rip off immediately after wrapping up your workout? Dreams do come true.u003c/pu003e

Varley High-Rise Leggings

u003cpu003eIf you’re on the hunt for the perfect legging (the struggle’s legit), look no further than this high-rise pair. No judgment if you refuse to take these off—we get it.u003c/pu003e

Faux Fur Suede Slides

u003cpu003eCome winter, I need something on my feet at all times. Whether it’s a pair of cozy cashmere socks or something a little more elevated—ahem, these—you’ll need something stylish to complete your look.u003c/pu003e

The soundtrack

If you love a good holiday movie, chances are, you also can’t get enough of a classic Christmas soundtrack. (And I have to bet that you’ve been playing A Charlie Brown Christmas since November 1.) To get you into the mood to watch everything from Elf to Home Alone to The Polar Express this soundtrack of all the best Christmas movie soundtracks should do the trick. And don’t worry, the Vince Guaraldi Trio makes more than a few appearances.

The supplies

It’s inevitable: to truly enjoy a movie marathon, you have to be comfortable. And not just kinda comfortable—I’m talking snug-as-a-bug-in-a-rug levels of coziness. When that’s the case, only cashmere and your favorite candle will do. Both are the ultimate luxuries for the ultimate indulgence: you + hours of holiday cinematic cheer.

And because no movie is complete without a snack, you’ll want to be prepared with a bowl that’ll do the heavy lifting. This retro, nutcracker-inspired bowl delivers just the right amount of holiday cheer. Don’t forget the warm beverages either—I can’t recommend this collection of ceramic mugs enough.

Rejuvenate Candle

u003cpu003eTo set the mood, a fresh and revitalizing fragrance is a must.u003c/pu003e

Cashmere Wrap

u003cpu003eMeet the accessory that you can wear a million ways. It works as a chic wrap for your party dress, a soft shawl slung over your shoulders, or as a makeshift blanket for the inevitable mid-flight chill.u003c/pu003e

The recipes

As I said, hot chocolate is the name of the game when it comes to doing movie night right. And no recipe beats this peppermint version. With or without the booze, it captures the quintessential holiday flavor with peppermint extract and Dutch process cocoa. And if you’re enjoying your movie marathon with friends or family, it couldn’t hurt to go all out with a hot chocolate board. Just sayin’.

You’ve been scouring all the best holiday cookie recipes since the summer and planning all the details of your cookie swap to a tee. Oh, and gingerbread house décor is a competition—one that you always win.

You might be a Christmas Cookie Culinista if…

 • You keep dough in the freezer for fresh cookies on a whim
 • Your bookshelves are filled with more cookbooks than novels
 • Ina Garten feels like your surrogate grandmother

Yes, yes, and yes? Here’s how to have the Christmas cookie baking sesh of your dreams.

haven-camille-styles-holiday-5101

The outfit

Let’s be real—cookie baking is your main priority, so you’re probably thinking more about how to accessorize your dough than your outfit. But the good news is that you can still look cute and cozy while keeping the attention on your prized baked goods. With a luxe material like cashmere, even your comfiest outfits can be Instagram-approved. Give your go-to hoodie-and-leggings combo an upgrade with cashmere’s softer than soft perfection. You and your confectionary creations are worth the indulgence.

Cashmere Ribbed Hoodie

u003cpu003eA cozy hoodie is a wintertime classic. This design elevates the tradition with a loose, but flattering shape. So you can rest easy—and relax in style.u003c/pu003e

Cashmere Ribbed Leggings

u003cpu003eSweatpants may be having their time in the sun, but we’d argue that these ribbed leggings are their more stylish, wear-anywhere cousin. They’re the perfect partner for a good, post-baking couch sesh.u003c/pu003e

Suede Booties

u003cpu003eA cozy activity like cookie baking calls for just-as-cozy footwear. Lined with warm faux fur, I keep these booties on my feet at all times—especially when I have zero plans to change out of my leggings.u003c/pu003e

The soundtrack

You’ll depart from the classics and play something that feels more holiday-adjacent. The perfect mix of tunes? Every song from Nancy Meyers’ oeuvre, of course. This playlist, aptly titled Nancy Meyers’ kitchen, immediately transports you to Meryl Streep’s French bakery in It’s Complicated or Kate Winslet’s cozy English cottage in The Holiday. Wherever this soundtrack drops you off, it’ll delight any holiday baker.

The supplies

Baking pans, bowls, and measuring cups—oh my! We know there are lots to choose from, but we’ve made selecting the best simple. These non-stick, half-sheet baking pans promise easy clean-up and even baking. And this set of measuring cups is a minimalist baker’s ideal set. Oh, and as for bowls—I don’t think I’ve ever found anything more stylish than these.

The recipes

No one loves holiday cookie baking as much as we do. That’s why we scoured the internet for the best recipes. 32 tried-and-true cookie recipes, comin’ atcha. You’re welcome.

Walking into your teenager’s bedroom can feel like walking into a mini Apple store. Cords and plugs and neon and devices. Dings and bells and things that go TikTok in the night. It’s a world that most of us parents take part in but still exist on the periphery of. Like an exclusive online club that we aren’t considered cool enough to be invited into—and one we still don’t entirely grasp.

We can sometimes feel, not just decades, but a planet away from the interests of our techie teens. But, despite ditching landlines for the latest iPhone, replacing the communal family computer with personal laptops, and swapping out babydoll dresses for baggy jeans and crop tops—so. many. midriffs.—what if “kids these days” are actually much more similar to how we were as teens than we realize? They just require a little more battery life.

We surveyed teenagers of all ages and found that their wants mirror many of the same wishlists we would’ve wanted back in the 90s. With a twist, of course.

Keep reading for the most creative, useful, and won’t-be-returned gift ideas for teens to buy this holiday season.

I’ve had a major glow-up over the years. Partly because I learned how to simultaneously tame and show off my thick curls, but mostly because I’ve honed my style. And as we shift into the colder months, you can bet I’m taking this skill into curating my autumnal closet—and all the fall basics I’ll have on rotation from now until spring.

I’ll share some more insight on my sartorial shifts as of late. Obsessing over my style board on Pinterest has been a huge source of inspiration. But trust me: it’s serious work (wink). I have a monthly practice where I audit and delete images that no longer inspire me, important new looks from my Instagram saved folder (pro tip), and even have a widget that refreshes every hour with another favorite look. I take my style seriously.

Doing this consistently over the last couple of years has not only helped me figure out and evolve my personal style but it’s allowed me to create a very efficient shopping list. It’s simple—all you have to do is gather your favorite inspiration images, put on a fun playlist, and recreate as many looks as you can using only your current fall wardrobe. And believe me, that’s where my fall basics come in handy.

Go through this process once, and you’ll quickly realize that you need to track down the perfect sweater, jacket, or pair of boots that would make take your wardrobe to the next level. With this method, I’ve transformed my closet from an uninspired collage of trends to a collection full of fall basics and neutral colors that I can endlessly mix and match.

But know this: The perfect closet doesn’t have to be a rigid “capsule wardrobe.” However, it does have to withstand trends and reflect who you are. With that in mind, keep scrolling for the fall basics and essentials that our editors swear by, this season and the next!

23 Fall Basics Our Editors Are Buying This Season

Light Layers

Mango Cotton Classic Trench Coat

This coat makes all my effortless French girl dreams come true. In this neutral color, it will layer just as easily over a t-shirt and jeans as on any other fall outfit. Obsessed. — Nihel, Social Media Manager

Djerf Avenue Forever Blazer Oat

Did you get the memo? Cardigans are out and blazers are IN. I’ve seen so many classic blazers ranging from the perfect plaid to classic neutrals. This one from Djerf Avenue is the perfect mix. — Nihel, Social Media Manager

Forever Blazer Oat

Dressed Up Denim

See by Chloe True Navy Mini Denim Dress

Nothing says fall quite like a good head-to-toe denim look. I am particularly partial to this See by Chloe number because it can go day to night in a snap. Swap your sneaks for a platform and off you go. Once the temps drop, layer the look with some opaque tights (or go bold with a patterned pair) and a clunky boot. Done. — Anne, Contributing Editor

Express CRESCENT Brielle Denim Jumpsuit

Not only do jumpsuits automatically make you look put together, but they take all the effort out of planning an outfit. Perfect for work, lunch, or a wine night by the fire, this short-sleeved denim jumpsuit has been my go-to. My favorite fall trend this year is pairing any sort of jumpsuit with some heeled boots like these for a casual, yet chic seasonal look. — Bridget, Contributing Editor

Summer-to-Fall Dresses

Madewell Lucie Embroidered Cotton Midi Dress

I just got this as a part of Madewell’s amazing Labor Day Sale and I’m obsessed. My love of nap dresses knows no bounds and you can bet I’m taking the trend into the chilly Chicago fall/winter. This has been perfect with sandals as the temps have stayed high, but as soon as things drop below 50, I’ll start layering up and pair this with my favorite tights, a cozy sweater, lug sole boots, and a scarf to top things off. — Isabelle, Managing Editor

Lucie Embroidered Cotton Midi Dress

u003cpu003eu003c/pu003e

H&M Mock-Turtleneck Dress

Living in LA, we don’t get the traditional fall season that Texas does, which means I won’t be bundling up in jeans and a scarf anytime soon. I’ve found myself reaching for this sweater dress day after day because it’s cool enough to wear in the California version of fall, while still making me feel like I’m dressing for the season. I love to pair sweater dresses with sneakers during the day, then swap for a pair of chunky boots for a night out. — Bridget, Contributing Editor

Mock-Turtleneck Dress

Nicole Kwon NKC Olivia Tent Dress in Black

Last summer, beloved Dallas shop owner Nicole Kwon launched her own ready-to-wear line of chic closet staples. Every NKC piece I’ve invested in has remained in heavy rotation so far, but none more so than the Olivia Tent Dress. It’s a one-size-fits-all wonder with discreet pockets so massive they essentially double as a medium-size purse. It’s my effortless answer to nearly every what-do-I-wear scenario in the coming months (and well beyond). — Caitlin, Contributing Editor

NKC Olivia Tent Dress in Black

Jenni Kayne Everyday Kate Sweater Dress

The solution to your elusive search for the perfect sweater dress. While this is on the expensive side, the investment is worth it. The dress’ timeless structure and quality design ensure you’ll be wearing it for years to come. The belt gives you endless styling options, and this can be just as easily worn to the office as for a date night out. — Isabelle, Managing Editor

Everyday Kate Sweater Dress

Cozy Pants (That Actually Make Us Excited To Ditch Our Sweats)

Veronica Beard Lebone Pant

I was ready for fall yesterday despite Austin still running in the 90s. I envision wearing these pants with a full grey monochromatic look head to bottom. I love a good high-waisted pair of trousers to go straight from work to dinner. These can look chic, classy, and sexy with the right top. — Kelly, Contributing Editor

Lebone Pant

u003cpu003eu003c/pu003e

Faherty Stretch Cord Patch Pocket Pant

Admittedly, these retro pants are slightly outside of my comfort zone. But rest assured, they are so versatile and equally chic. They pair beautifully with boots, heeled mules, and white sneakers. These pants are also the perfect accouterment to your fave long-sleeve (or perfect t-shirt) and cozy vest. — Edie, Wellness Contributor

Zara Wide Leg Pants With Darts

Trousers have become one of my favorite wardrobe pieces. They always look chic and are easy to dress up for a night out or a casual look with sneakers and a tee. I have this pair in two colors and they always get compliments. — Nihel, Social Media Manager

Citizens of Humanity Gema Pant

While I have yet to decide if I can truly pull off the trendy cargo pant look, I just splurged on these denim cargo-esque pants and they have immediately become a fall staple. I’ve worn these with a t-shirt to run errands, a black body suit to go out, and a button-down for work. — Bridget, Contributing Editor

All Things Comfy, Cozy, and Chic

Uniqlo U Crew Neck Short Sleeved T-Shirt

A wardrobe essential. Don’t take my word for it, buy it now and thank me later. This $13 tee has the perfect high neck and thick material that isn’t transparent. (Which, let’s admit, is the worst quality in a white t-shirt.) Size up for a looser fit. — Nihel, Social Media Manager

Alo Accolade Sweatpant

Far too often, the sweatpants in our drawer are stretched out and ill-fitting—what we reach for when we really don’t care about looking pulled-together. But I believe that every fall wardrobe in 2022 should have a perfectly cut pair of sweatpants that can go from workout class to lunch date paired with a trench and cool sneakers. These are super soft and will make you feel sporty on even your laziest day. — Camille, Editor-In-Chief

Djerf Avenue Must Have Mini Skirt Black

This is the perfect mini skirt that pairs just as well with a chunky oversized sweater as with a basic tee. While this classic black mini is trending, I also think this is one of those essential wardrobe staples that you can wear through most seasons, while still looking timeless.

La Ligne Mini Marin Sweater

When the temperatures begin to dip, I start to crave chunky woven knits. More specifically, those comforting wear-with-everything sweaters that feel like a hug from your favorite aunt. I usually splurge on a new one each year—and this fall I’m going for the Mini Marin by La Ligne. It’s pricey, but the cost-per-wear makes it worth it. Plus, the collection’s insanely-thick seven-ply cashmere lasts and lasts. I love the Hot Bubble Gum Pink hue, which brings some summery fun well into the long winter months. — Stacey, Design Editor

The Perfect Fall Shoes

Nisolo Everyday Chelsea Commuter Boot

I bought these boots earlier this year in preparation for the fall season. With the weather turning here in Chicago I’ve finally been able to break them out. These are my favorite pair of boots, not because they are timeless in style, but because they’re actually comfortable for me to walk in! I love that they button up almost any look and pair as perfectly with cuffed jeans as they do with cozy socks over leggings. My favorite fall shoe for sure! — Suruchi, Food Editor

Everyday Chelsea Commuter Boot

u003cpu003eu003c/pu003e

Able Ellie Western Boot

Everyone’s wearing cowboy boots this season and I am fully here for it. While it may seem like a niche trend, I’ve discovered that cowboy boots pair with just about all my other fall basics. From my long, flowy dresses to denim skirts to cozy cords, this pair is the perfect statement piece that melds function with style. — Isabelle, Managing Editor

Stuart Weitzman Palmer Sleek Loafer

I’ll admit that I haven’t pulled the trigger on these yet. They’ve got a hefty price tag. BUT they’re in my shopping cart for the time being. When the time is right, I know that this classic, yet on-trend shoe will last me so long, I might even pass them down to my children. — Nihel, Social Media Manager

Essential Accessories

White + Warren Cashmere Travel Wrap

My MIL has given me a few of these as gifts. I love that you can dress them up or down and they are my go-to for travel. Wear them as a scarf for a bit of drama or a shawl to keep you warm. There’s nothing like cozy cashmere on your skin in the cooler weather to keep you warm. — Brandy, Motherhood Editor

Cashmere Travel Wrap

A New Day™ Gold Multi Tube Hoop Earrings

The only accessory I need is a pair of gold hoops. I have them in all shapes and sizes but this $8 pair is the one that garners the most compliments. They honestly look good with anything and can even elevate a simple sweatsuit (which is the best fall outfit, let’s be honest). — Brittany, Content Marketing Director

Gold Multi Tube Hoop Earrings

u003cpu003eu003c/pu003e

Samnyte Hair Wax Stick

While this isn’t technically a wardrobe piece, it’s a style hack that I will bring with me into fall. I started slicking my hair back in a bun after being at the beach and feeling too lazy to wash my hair, but now I can’t stop. Something about a slicked-back bun with some fun earrings (these are my go-to pair from ALV) seems to elevate every outfit—even a turtleneck and jeans. Plus, this wax stick is foolproof, considering I’m a bit challenged in the hairstyling department. — Bridget, Contributing Editor

Good news: summer is here. The even better news? We still have months to go before the fall chill sets in. And while I’m excited for all things cozy come the colder months, there’s nothing better than curating my summer wardrobe. We’ve said goodbye to long sleeves and layers and welcomed skirts and shorts with open arms. Truly, changing up my summer wardrobe is one of the things I love most about the shift in season.

I’ve always been a firm believer that what you wear can play a big role in your mood and overall self-confidence, and every season is a new opportunity to showcase the best version of yourself.

How to Build a Sustainable Summer Wardrobe

I fondly recall my days in New York living in a small apartment. I would pack up my winter clothes to make space for new options that would fill my closet each summer. However, as I got older, had children, and started to pay closer attention to my carbon footprint, it became abundantly clear that this turnover rate was completely unsustainable and very unaffordable!

In the past few years, I’ve been working on my summer wardrobe capsule collection. It’s made up of timeless pieces that work for me and my body year after year. Taking this approach keeps me from constantly purchasing new clothing to keep up with trends. Sure, I love to follow them here and there, but as a former stylist of 11 years, I have a pretty good idea of what staple items will never go out of style. Trust me: These are the pieces that will anchor your summer wardrobe.

If you’ve been thinking about investing in some go-to summer essentials that will last you for years to come, you know I’ve got some tips for you, babe. Here are some of my all-time favorite pieces that you might want to consider when building your very own capsule summer wardrobe.

Every product is curated with care by our editors. If you buy something through our links, we may earn a small commission at no cost to you.

Dresses

Vince Satin Slip Dress

I think I own three of these Vince slip dresses in different colors! If you have curves like me, it hits in all the right places.

Cuyana Silk Slip Dress

Sometimes, shiny silk fabric can feel a little too fancy if you’re going for a more casual look. This silk slip by Cyuana still feels special while managing to fit any occasion—dressed up or dressed down.

Karen Millen Hammered Satin Cowl Woven Slip Dress

I absolutely love this luxurious design, which skims curves in all the right places and features a slinky shape, slender straps, and draped cowl detailing to show off your summer skin.

L’Agence Serita Silk Charmeuse Maxi Slipdress

Effortlessly elegant and flattering, this maxi slip dress is bias-cut from lustrous silk charmeuse that fluidly skims curves.

Fleur du Mal Short Cowl Neck Slip

A look that goes perfectly from the bar to the bedroom.

Jumpers

Ozma of California Vanessa Romper

This romper is perfect for a day at the beach over your swimsuit or on its own for a patio hang.

Norma Kamali x REVOLVE Low Back Slip Jumpsuit

Want to step up your wedding guest attire? This unexpected jumpsuit is the ideal dress alternative.

Everlane The Fatigue Short Sleeve Jumpsuit

The belted option for work or the weekend.

& Other Stories Sleeveless Bustier Jumpsuit

The unicorn of jumpsuits? One that’s comfy and cozy while still giving you a shape—and that manages to hug you in all the right places.

Mate the Label Linen Short Sleeve Jumpsuit

An environmentally-friendly option with extended sizing and tons of color options! If you haven’t discovered Mate the Label yet, this is the perfect introduction to the brand.

Jeans

Levi’s Dad Jeans

Dad jeans are on-trend but timeless, chic but cozy. This pick lets you dip your toe into the 90s trend without going overboard.

Madewell Wide Leg Crop Jean

High-rise meets wide-leg. Flattering and fit for any occasion this summer (and beyond). While we’re building your summer wardrobe, you can always be prepared for the seasons to come.

Rag & Bone Liquid Miramar Pant

Jeans? More like pajamas. Seriously—I’ve never met a comfier, chicer pant. These are the 2022 answer to looking stylish while working from home. And if you’ve headed back to the office, take heart: these are 100 percent casual Friday-approved.

Mother High-Waisted Rider Ankle Fray

When you want to add a little edge and ventilation to your denim. I love the way these hug my curves and the high-waisted fit is both super flattering and comfy. I’m tempted to call these the perfect pair of jeans.

J.Crew Wide Leg Trouser

A wide-leg trouser will take you from work to the cocktail bar. We love a super-chic twofer.

Camille-Styles-summer-wardrobe

Shorts

Parade High-Rise Bike Short

Though the biker short trend might have had its run, I love the updated version of a ribbed biker short. They bridge the gap between activewear and being a casual, on-the-go piece (perfect for looking put-together while running errands). Pair them with a crop top and add an oversized button-up to complete the look.

Mate the Label Linen Shorts

Your beach days need these shorts. I even love them for lounging around the house—definitely recommend purchasing the matching top, too. An easy, nearly all-in-one outfit.

Joe’s Jeans 7″ Lara Bermuda Shorts

As I get older, I’ve found myself experimenting with longer shorts. Styled right (with a fitted tank tucked in or a button-down layered on top), these still feel chic.

AGOLDE Parker High-Rise Denim Shorts

When it comes to denim shorts, you often have to try on a few before finding the winner. These AGOLDE ones hit the mark for a few reasons, being that they are mid-length, mid-rise, and super casual.

Camille Styles sandals_summer wardrobe

Sandals

Freda Salvador Robin Padded Woven Mideheel

These are my go-to sandals for summer. They’re best paired with jeans, a jumpsuit, or dresses of any length. What I’m trying to say is, that their perfection is universal.

3.1 Phillip Lim Verona Sandals

I like to keep my strappy sandals low and simple, but with a few special details thrown in.

Madewell Cady Lugsole Sandal

Chunky and comfy is the name of the game here. Though I usually steer clear of anything that makes my feet look bigger, I like how sleek and narrow these are. They get bonus points for strap security, so I don’t bust my ankle. (Important given all the running around I’m—and we all are—doing in the summer!)

Birkenstock Arizona Big Buckle Slide Sandal

This might be controversial, but I think everyone needs a pair of Birkenstocks. Maybe it’s the Cali girl in me, but nothing says effortlessly cool quite like a pair of Birks. If they feel too utilitarian for you, the brand has endless options that’ll fit your fashion girl vibes.

Stuart Weitzman Strap Sandals

Though I’ve basically sworn off all high heel sandals, there’s always a time and a place when you need some height. So, if you have to splurge on a pair that’s going to treat your feet right and that you can pull off at a summer soirée or a brunch with baggy jeans—ladies, I give you this forever classic.

There you have it! My go-to selections to build your very own summer wardrobe. I hope that some of these pieces resonated with you and help you get on your way to a more sustainable wardrobe. As always, I’m so down to hear what your favorite pieces are, so feel free to link your summery staples in the comments below!

Cold shoulder, hot trend.

The post 11 One-Shoulder Tops You Need In Your Closet This Summer appeared first on Camille Styles.

While trends may have once taken shape on the runways in Paris, nowadays, anything can have its 15 minutes of fame with the help of an influencer and internet virality. Enter, one shoulder tops. This style has been taking my social feeds by storm since last summer, but it wasn’t until this season that I saw a full-blown adoption of the trend. Suddenly, not only style mavens, but all my friends (and their moms) are dawning a bare shoulder—and to be clear, I am 100 percent here for it.

One shoulder tops merge a carefree look with a high-style aesthetic, one that fully encapsulates all the best parts of summer. While the look might be a little daring for my Zoom calls (but really, what even is workwear anymore?), you’ll definitely catch me in any and all of my one shoulder tops at every gathering throughout the summer. After all, during a season of backyard hangs, light but satisfying meals, and happy hours that extend well into the evening, two sleeves can sometimes feel a little, well, a little redundant.

Half the material, half the coverage, and I’m fully in love. Scroll down for 11 of our favorite one shoulder tops, and tell us your faves in the comments!

11 One Shoulder Tops for Elegant, Effortless Outfits—All Summer Long

Anthropologie Maeve One-Shoulder Tank

Every closet could benefit from this top. Swear. While I love the classic look of a single, unobstructed strap, there’s something to be said for a little thoughtful detailing—and this tank gets that point across beautifully.

Named Maeve, with the intention of referencing a purple flower, Greek goddess, and an Irish warrior queen (heck, yes!), this top is the intersection of strength and softness, boasting structure and an undeniably feminine shape.

Anthropologie Maeve One-Shoulder Tank, $48

J. Crew FormKnit One-Shoulder Tank

This top’s fabric is J. Crew’s signature FormKnit, which offers a super soft stretch that works with your body. As the name suggests, it fits with your form but stretches for a smoothing, sleek effect.

I can’t get enough of this tank’s rosy color. It’s the perfect blend of romance and summery vibes, ideal for a barbecue, beach day, or date night at your favorite bar.

Girlfriend Collective Black Bianca One Shoulder Bra

I’m a longtime lover of all things Girlfriend Collective (so much so, that I included another pick of theirs below). This one shoulder bra has been around for a few seasons, and though I’d include all the colors on my “to-buy” list, a classic black is sleek, chic, and truly goes with anything.

With its compressive fit and sweat-wicking fabric, this is perfect for a workout, going out, or really any time you want to pair comfort with on-trend style.

Girlfriend Collective Black Bianca One Shoulder Bra, $42

Everlane The Ribbed One-Shoulder Tank

My love of Everlane will never die (I just got my boyfriend into the brand, and honestly, never been prouder). Known for being connoisseurs in the (wide) world of apparel basics, Everlane manages to infuse this humble style with interest and depth.

The cropped hem is an ideal pairing with a high-waisted pant or skirt, plus the elastane material gives this top a breathable feel—checking all the boxes for the perfect summer fit.

Everlane The Ribbed One-Shoulder Tank, $30

Banana Republic One-Shoulder Tank

How cute is this poppy red tank? While it comes in white as well, I love the double-impact look of a flirty style done in a statement-making color.

As the description makes clear, this tank epitomizes “one and done style.” My minimalist closet’s dream.

Banana Republic One-Shoulder Tank, $40

Free People One Way Or Another Tank

If I could try to put a finger on exactly why one shoulder tops have risen to such prominence, I’d say that it’s because they can turn heads with such little effort. Case in point, this classic, always-in-style tank that’s both easygoing and absolutely elegant.

I’ve admittedly always been intimidated by festival wear. Cut-off denim shorts? I can’t handle the chafe. Fringe? Cool, but not sure I can pull it off. But this top? Perfection.

Free People One Way Or Another Tank, $38

OFFLINE By Aerie Goals One Shoulder Sports Bra

While we may have once been quick to leave American Eagle and Aerie in our pre-teen past, the brands have seen a re-emergence in the women’s apparel space, taking their super-comfy fabrics and crafting styles that fit and flatter every body—as proven by this made-for-summer sports bra.

Removable, recycled padding? Check. A fabric that’s compressive and comfy? Check. A top you’ll work into every outfit this season? You bet.

OFFLINE By Aerie Goals One Shoulder Sports Bra,
$24.46 (reg. $34.95)

Anthropologie Maeve One-Shoulder Tank

Belonging to the same family of styles as the Maeve option above, I love this variation with tie detailing at the sleeve. It gives an almost ethereal feel. And that color, just a shade off of Kelly Green, is dark and deep for a more refined look.

Greek goddess, indeed.

Anthropologie Maeve One-Shoulder Tank, $60

A New Day™ Women’s One Shoulder Ruffle Top

An affordable pick that doesn’t skimp on style. The ruffle adds a fun, summery touch, while the addition of elastic at the hem, shoulder, and neck ensures a relaxed fit that’ll stay in place.

With a range of color options and inclusive sizing, this top is perfect for easy, breezy, sun-drenched days.

A New Day™ Women’s One Shoulder Ruffle Top, $12.60

Girlfriend Collective Moss Bree One Shoulder Bra

Confirming my love of Girlfriend Collective. This bra is a newer iteration of the classic style above, and while it isn’t technically one shoulder with the addition of the skinny strap, the impact still lands.

In true Girlfriend fashion, this asymmetrical top is made from 79% recycled plastic bottles (RPET) and offers low-impact support. Like I said, every color please.

Girlfriend Collective Moss Bree One Shoulder Bra, $42

Mango Asymmetric Design Top

Every summer wardrobe needs a go-to, going-out top—and this one’s mine. A part of Mango’s Committed Collection, this tank was produced with the planet in mind, making the most of sustainable materials and processes. When it comes to supporting the environment and owning your individual style, this top puts both priorities front and center.

If this round-up has brought any consistency to light, it’s that I can’t get enough of sleek, statement-making tops—and elastic, of course.

Mango Asymmetric Design Top, $29.99

Easy breezy.

I know, I know—it’s only April, but I’ve had warm weather on my mind since December of last year. There’s just something about the carefree days of summer that feels truly euphoric. Outdoor gatherings are at an all-season high, the possibilities for adventures and activities are endless, an abundance of fresh produce is in season, and, of course, we can finally move our mini dresses from the back of the closet to their rightful place in the spotlight.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m definitely envisioning many a patio chat and rooftop rosé hang with a midi or maxi dress on. I love their elegant but easygoing style and there’s nothing better than putting on a single piece and considering your outfit complete. But sometimes, the occasion just calls for a floaty, above-the-knee frock. I know that when the temps reach into the triple-digits, there’s no way I’m wearing something that goes down to my ankles.

The voluminous sleeves and easy cuts make these mini dresses comfy enough to add to your work-from-home (or casual Friday) wardrobe and playful enough for a festive night out. As cool spring days make way for sunnier ones, we’re ready to reach for bright colors, breezy shapes, and dresses that show a little more leg (ahem, head here for everything you need to know about self-tanner).

I’m not sure if there’s any mood booster better or more instantaneous than putting on your favorite dress. So let’s get to scrolling and shopping for your new go-to mini dress that’ll take you everywhere this season.

Johnny Was Briar Button-Back Dress, $298

Everlane The Smocked Linen Dress

While we’d happily purchase this dress in all three colors, it’s the Goji Berry option that really stands out. This vibrant hue helps you make a statement with ease, and the shape is an ideal cut for pairing with your favorite summer sandals.

Abercrombie & Fitch Flirty Drama Mini Dress, $100

Christy Dawn The Verna Dress

Christy Dawn may be known for their floor-sweeping, ethereal dresses, but this long-sleeved mini delivers plenty of romance. Cute with boots or styled with sandals, you’ll be shocked by all the many ways you’ll wear this dress.

Madewell Linen-Blend Lorelei Mini Dress

If you were to take a spin around my closet, you’d quickly catch wind of the fact that somewhere around 75% of my wardrobe comes from Madewell. Their pieces are just that good. I love the way this breezy, linen-blend dress hangs on the body—it’s roomy, comfy, but elevated enough for date night.

Madewell Linen-Blend Lorelei Mini Dress, $89.50 (reg. $98)

J. Crew Long-Sleeve Crinkle Chiffon Dress in Mixed Floral

Nothing beats the drama inherent in a short hemline, long-sleeve combo. The delicate floral pattern and dainty tie-sleeves make a casual fit perfect for any summer party.

Anthropologie Maeve Smocked Tunic Mini Dress

Anthropologie Maeve Smocked Tunic Mini Dress, $148

Girlfriend Collective Iris Naomi Workout Dress

Outdoor Voices may have coined the exercise dress trend, but Girlfriend Collective knows a thing or two about luxe athleisure. If you haven’t yet experienced the brand’s soft, ultralight FLOAT fabric, do yourself a favor and hop to it. Be sure to grab yourself a pair of their leggings while you’re at it.

Girlfriend Collective Iris Naomi Workout Dress, $88

H&M Balloon-Sleeved Dress

Ballon sleeves and a dramatic neckline—is there anything better? Choose from this paisley-patterned option or go classic in black. Either way, the next time a gathering comes up on your calendar, you’ll know exactly what to wear.

H&M Balloon-Sleeved Dress, $49.99

Universal Thread™ Women’s Sleeveless Tiered Gauze Dress

This dress is hands down, the cutest thing you’ll ever find under $20. I love the flippy and flared hemline, and the breathable fabric will make this your go-to when the next heatwave strikes.

Universal Thread™ Women’s Sleeveless Tiered Gauze Dress, $14 (reg. $20)

Totally on board with this one.

The post This Cool-Girl Trend Is As Comfy As It Is Chic—We’re Embracing It for Spring appeared first on Camille Styles.

The end of winter was busy with work and tackling projects around the house. This spring? I’m daydreaming about the long days that turn into even longer nights. You know the ones: sun-kissed weekends surrounded by family and friends, happy hours that spill into dinner, exploring new shops across town—there’s so much to get after! And while I love my go-to heels and sandals, with all the mileage I’ll be clocking this season, I’m on the hunt for the best sneakers for spring.

Wearing athleisure and slippers while working from home definitely has it charms, but I can only take so much. Truly, I’d be lying if I said I didn’t miss putting on a cute outfit and heading out for a full day with friends or work meetings. Since my normal life consists of lots of running around town and chasing after my adorable 7-month-old maniac, I need my wardrobe to keep up. Cute and easy is the name of the game when it comes to spring outfits. What better way to make a statement (and sit criss-cross applesauce and play with blocks on the floor) than with sneakers that were made for spring?

Sneakers are the perfect way to add a sportier element to more polished looks—or add a tougher, street-style edge to a more feminine piece. I like to wear sneakers with sweatsuits, t-shirt dresses, perfect-fit or oversized jeans, blazer looks, and my favorite: cute, feminine dresses. I literally wear sneakers with everything. Comfort is key, and they always put off a cool-girl vibe.

Spring is the perfect time to freshen up your closet with some new kicks. Whether feminine, sporty, high fashion, or retro, we’ve rounded up 11 of the best sneakers for spring that will go with any outfit.

'Cause pretty can be comfy too.

Lingerie is often mentioned in tandem with Valentine’s Day, but the truth is we don’t need to wait for an excuse to wear something beautiful. Special moments, of course, make it fun to put in a little extra effort. But we’re of the opinion that every day is an occasion for sexy, simple lingerie.

We’re firm believers in not waiting to bust out the pretty stuff. On top of that, we need lingerie to be more than just sexy. Sure, the lacy factor is fun, but the restricting cuts and itchiness are not. Anyone else find that they actually use their lingerie when it fits well and is minimal enough to wear under an everyday outfit? Give us lingerie that’s chic, elegant, and comfortable too, please.

With that in mind, we’ve rounded up the prettiest lingerie sets that don’t scream Valentine’s Day, in a good way. There’s some lace, of course, but the pieces below are sexy enough to feel special, while being comfortable enough that you’ll actually be excited to wear them again.

Whether you’re looking for something to freshen up your lingerie drawer in time for the holiday or throwing a tee over your skivvies before hopping on a virtual girl’s wine night, these bra and undie sets (and a bodysuit or two!) from our favorite lingerie brands have got you covered.
